Cúpla Focal

Celebrating Irish language and culture

Fun first steps in the Irish language

Fun first steps in the Irish language

Cúpla Focal is a children’s animation project created with pupils from Irish‑medium schools and nurseries across the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough. Featuring the real voices of local children, the project celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge and highlighted Irish language in everyday life. Through colourful characters and catchy repetition, the children acted as “teachers,” sharing simple Irish words and phrases with the wider community, bringing the language to life and showcasing the vibrancy of Irish‑medium education.

Participating schools and nurseries included Naiscoil na Fiobha, Toomebridge; Naiscoil and Gaelscoil Ghleann Darach, Crumlin; and Gaelscoil Éanna, Glengormley. Pictured are Ella from Gaelscoil Éanna, one of the voices from the animation, with her school’s Vice Principal, Aodán Mistéil.
