Local Policies Plan

The LPP must be consistent with our adopted Plan Strategy and will set out development zonings and associated key site requirements and other site-specific proposals and local policy designations required to deliver the Plan Vision, Strategic Objectives and Spatial Growth Strategy in the Plan Strategy as well as defining the limits for all our settlements.

As part of our evidence gathering for the Local Policies Plan, the Council’s Forward Planning Section are undertaking a Call for Sites (CFS) exercises, one (1) in relation to Strategic Employment Land and one (1) in relation to Strategic Housing land. It is anticipated that the Council will launch the Call for Sites exercise in November 2025 – please continue to check our website for further details on this.

The Council will hold four public engagement events to advise on the next stage of the Local Development Plan and to explain the process of the Call for Sites exercise. The events are scheduled below:

• 10 November 2025, 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Mossley Mill, Carnmoney Road North, Newtownabbey BT36 5QA
• 13 November 2025, 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Sixmile Leisure Centre, Ballyclare, BT39 9YU
• 18 November 2025, 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Antrim Civic Centre, 50 Stiles Way, Antrim BT41 2UB
• 20 November 2025, 4:00pm to 8:00pm, Randalstown Arches, Main Street, Randalstown BT41 3EA
