SPG represents non-statutory planning guidance. It is intended to be read in conjunction with the existing planning policy framework, most notably the Strategic Planning Policy Statement (SPPS) for Northern Ireland and the Local Development Plan 2030: Plan Strategy. SPG does not introduce any new policy but instead will be treated as a material consideration in the consideration of planning applications.
Following an 8-week period of public consultation between 11 August 2025 and 6 October 2025, the consideration of responses by Officers and agreement by the Planning Committee on 19 Jan 2026, a final version of the Affordable Housing SPG has now been published by the Council. This SPG supports the application of the Affordable Housing policies set out in the Plan Strategy and can be viewed via the link below:
