Tackling Rural Poverty & Social Isolation Funding
Rural Business Grants of up to £4,999
Capital grants up to a maximum of 50% grant rate are available to existing micro enterprises based in a rural area to support them to sustain or grow through DAERA’s Tackling Rural Poverty and Social Isolation (TRPSI) Programme. The scheme is open to businesses who have not previously received funding under this Programme. Applications open between 20th September 2021 and close at 12noon on 29th September 2021. Grant aid of between £500 - £4,999 is available for projects to purchase equipment, machinery or set up an e-commerce website. The maximum project cost is £20,000.
Is my Business Based in a Rural Area?
Rural areas are those areas with less than 5,000 residents and outside of designated urban areas. In Antrim and Newtownabbey this includes the villages of Ballyeaston, Ballynure, Ballyrobert, Burnside, Doagh, Parkgate, Straid, Templepatrick, Toome and all outlying rural areas.
The scheme cannot support businesses based in urban towns of Antrim, Ballyclare, Crumlin, Glengormley and Randalstown, nor within the Newtownabbey Urban Area.

The application form will be available to download from this website from 20th September 2021. For practical help, watch the video on How to write your application form below.
Fully completed application forms with supporting documents must be submitted by 12noon on 29th September 2021. Applications in the Antrim and Newtownabbey area should be submitted via email to email@example.com If you have difficulty submitting electronic forms, please contact us for advice. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

As there is limited budget available, successful applications will be prioritised based on assessment score. Other Council areas may not be open for applications; please contact your individual Council for information. Workshops are not planned for this application call, however should you wish to discuss your project idea, please contact the Economic Development team firstname.lastname@example.org or text Business Rural to 80039 and a member of the team will get in touch with you.
