Rural Business Grants

Capital grants up to a maximum of £4,999 at a 50% grant rate are available to existing micro enterprises based in a rural area to support them to sustain or grow through DAERA’s Tackling Rural Poverty and Social Isolation (TRPSI) Programme. 


Tackling Rural Poverty & Social Isolation Funding

Rural Business Grants of up to £4,999

Capital grants up to a maximum of 50% grant rate are available to existing micro enterprises based in a rural area to support them to sustain or grow through DAERA’s Tackling Rural Poverty and Social Isolation (TRPSI) Programme.  The Programme is open to businesses who have not received funding under the 2021-22 Scheme. Applications open at 9am on 4 May 2022 and close at 12noon on 31 May 2022.  Grant aid of between £500 - £4,999 is available for projects to purchase equipment, machinery or set up an e-commerce website.  The maximum project cost is £20,000.

Is my Business Based in a Rural Area?

Rural areas are those areas with less than 5,000 residents and outside of designated urban areas. In Antrim and Newtownabbey this includes the villages of Ballyeaston, Ballynure, Ballyrobert, Burnside, Doagh, Parkgate, Straid, Templepatrick, Toome and all outlying rural areas.

The scheme cannot support businesses based in urban towns of Antrim, Ballyclare, Crumlin, Glengormley and Randalstown, nor within the Newtownabbey Urban Area.

Fully completed application forms with supporting documents must be submitted by 12noon on 31 May 2022.  If you have difficulty submitting online forms, please contact us for advice.  Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Introduction to the Funding Programme

The scheme is open to existing businesses with fewer than 10 full-time employees for capital items between 4 May 2022 and 12noon on 31 May 2022. The grants are at a maximum of 50% grant rate, up to £4,999.  Capital items include, for example, equipment, machinery and computers.  E-commerce websites are also eligible.  Building works are not eligible for funding under this Programme.
