Mossley Mill Fishery

This unique 5.5 acre (2.2 ha), brown trout fishery is set in the grounds of a restored nineteenth-century linen mill in Newtownabbey. The fishery is run on a partnership basis between the award-winning, Three Mile Water Conservation and Angling Association and Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council.

• Booking

  The fishery is only fishable off one bank, of which there are six dedicated pegs. These can be booked up to three days in advance via our online booking portal.

  Please note, your DAERA Rod licence number is required in order to book your stand.

• Opening Times
  Open to the public from 1 March to 31 October every year and is strictly fly angling only.
• Rules

  • Display current fishing licence and valid ticket at all times

  • Obey instructions from the Bailiffs

  • Fish from the designated stands only

  • Fly fishing only

  • Barbless hooks only

  • No lures or bait permitted

  • Landing nets to be used at all times

  • All fish to be returned to the fishery

  • Under 16s permitted only when accompanied by an adult

  • No alcohol

  • Observe social distancing

  • Wash hands regularly

  • Leave the site as found (e.g. take home litter, used disposable gloves and masks etc.)

• DAERA Rod Licence

  A Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) Rod Licence is required by anyone aged 12 years or over for all fishing in Northern Ireland.
  If you want to fish in Northern Ireland, you will always need a licence issued in
  Northern Ireland. You are not covered by a Great Britain (English, Scottish, Welsh) or Republic of Ireland fishing licence.

• Fishing Pegs

  Fishing clubs play an important role in enforcing fishery regulations and ensuring the protection and compliance of the habitat. To support these arrangements and maintain responsible management of fishing activities, fishing peg sales are currently unavailable.

  Visitors are advised that the Mossley Mill reception team will not be selling fishing pegs at this time. Further updates will be provided as arrangements are reviewed.
