Balmoral Show 2021 Showcasing Opportunity

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is providing eight local food and drinks businesses with the opportunity to showcase themselves at Balmoral Show from 22-25 September 2021

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is providing eight local food and drinks businesses with the opportunity to showcase themselves at Balmoral Show from 22-25 September 2021. A stand has been reserved at this year’s show, with the opportunity for local businesses to exhibit their produce.
 
If you feel that your business could benefit from this, please complete and submit the application form below by 12 noon on Friday 2 July. **PLEASE NOTE: THE APPLICATION PROCESS HAS NOW CLOSED**
 
Candidates must comply with the following criteria as stipulated by Food NI Ltd and Council reserves the right to select the highest scoring food business operators to represent the Borough. 
 
All exhibitors will be required to comply fully with any current Covid-19 related guidance as provided by Food NI, Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council and government guidelines.

Essential Criteria

  • Food business operators must have a registered business address within the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council area.
  • Food business operators should have a turnover of less than £150,000.
  • Food business operators should have no more than 5 FT equivalent employees.
  • Food business operators must be producing their product(s) in Northern Ireland, using and promoting local ingredients where possible.
  • Food business operators must have a current Food Hygiene Rating of ‘5’ as per the Food Hygiene Rating Act (Northern Ireland) 2016.
  • Food business operators must not be showcasing their products at another stand at the Balmoral Show.
  • Food business operators must have Public Liability Insurance of at least £5million.  Selected producers will be asked to provide confirmation of this through their broker.
  • Exhibitors are required to adhere to all Covid-19 safety measures as set by the Council and show organisers and comply with all government guidelines and restrictions in place at that time. 

Desirable Criteria 

  • Preference will be given to food business operators who have not exhibited on the Council stand at Balmoral Show previously, although consideration may still be given to those who have taken part before.

Notes

  • Food business operators must comply with all Health and Safety and Environmental Health requirements at all times.
  • Food business operators may be able to provide samples providing they are in a sealed individual container. Further information on this will be provided to the successful businesses.  
  • Food business operators will be able to sell produce on the day, with the exception of alcohol products. Alcohol products cannot be sold on the stand due to legislative restrictions.
  • Successful food business operators will be required to pay a £100 deposit to reserve the place offered, repayable upon attendance at the event. 
  • Council reserves the right to select businesses based on the below. You should therefore aim to address these points throughout your application: 
    - Suitability of the business for exhibit at Balmoral Show (eg. show-case, level of animation and interaction)
    - Thematic approach to the development of the stand to ensure the Borough’s exhibits are complimentary 
    - Quality of branding and marketing materials to be provided by businesses to maintain a high quality standard and positive reputation of the Borough 
  • Council reserves the right to enhance selection criteria if a high number of applications are received. Canvassing may lead to disqualification.
  • Please note that Council cannot guarantee that you will be offered your preferred, or any date.
