-    Saturday 15 October Valley Leisure Centre 10am-3pm

Alan Napier, Sixmile and Crumlin Leisure Centre Manager started his leisure career as a lifeguard, here’s what he has to say, “I joined the Council as a lifeguard when I was 20, and that was the start of my leisure career. I took advantage of the training opportunities available with the Council, I was able to study part-time and gain a degree! I would encourage everyone to attend one of the open days, you don’t know what opportunities lie ahead for you.”

We are currently recruiting for the following roles at Antrim Forum, Valley Leisure Centre and Sixmile Leisure Centre:

  • Leisure Attendants
  • Fitness Consultants
  • Receptionists

Full-time (37 hours), part-time and casual roles are available.

  • Salaries starting at £10.19 per hour (equivalent to an annual salary for full time roles of £19,650), these roles are fantastic opportunities for anyone 16+ year olds.
  • Salaries will commence from £19650 to £20043 per annum (pro rata for part time) PLUS 10%* allowance when working a qualifying flexible shift pattern. (*Casual leisure attendants and receptionists are paid £10.19 per hour and casual fitness consultants at £10.60 per hour)

In addition, we offer a range of employee benefits including a highly competitive employer pension contribution of 19.5% plus 22 days annual leave and 12 public holidays (pro-rata), bike to work scheme, annual rail travel ticket reimbursement, discounted leisure centre membership and multiple training and wellbeing opportunities.

What to expect on recruitment day:

  • Have a chat with our leisure teams and attend a short interview with our friendly recruitment team.
  • For a Leisure attendant position, don’t worry if you do not have an NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification) we will train you, all we ask is that you are a competent swimmer and can complete the pool assessment.

Remember to bring with you:

  • photographic ID  such as a passport or driver’s license
  • your swim kit! Swimwear, shorts, a t-shirt, a towel, and dry clothes. 

The pool test:

  • Jump/dive into deep water
  • Swim 50 metres in no more than 60 seconds
  • Swim 100 metres continuously on front
  • Swim continuously on back
  • In deep water tread water for 30 seconds
  • Surface dive to the floor of the pool
  • Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits

For Fitness Consultant positions we only ask that you hold a level 2 fitness qualification or you are willing to work towards achieving this.

Next Step

After the short interview and pool test (if applicable), you will be notified the following week if you have been successful.

We will also keep your details on our register of reserves for 12 months and should a similar or alternative position become available, these will be offered to those on our register in the order of merit.
