Consultation – Draft Antrim and Newtownabbey Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) and  Draft Disability Action Plan

PCSPs are subject to the requirements of Section 49A and 49B of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (“Disability Duties”). These duties mean that PCSPs, when exercising its functions, must have due regard to the need to:

  • promote positive attitudes towards disabled people, and

  • Encourage participation by disabled people in public life

Antrim and Newtownabbey PCSP are required to produce a disability action plan showing how it proposes to fulfil the disability duties and submit this plan to the Equality Commission.

Antrim and Newtownabbey PCSP have recently produced a ‘Draft’ Disability Action Plan which is currently out for public consultation and we welcome comment from your organisation.

The consultation period will run from 15 November 2021 to 7 February 2022 and we would welcome your views on our draft documents.

To obtain a copy of the ‘draft’ Disability Action Plan or to seek guidance on any aspect of the consultation process, please contact: Partnership Manager, Antrim and Newtownabbey Policing and Community Safety Partnership at the address above.

Alternatively, you may access the draft scheme on the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council website (coming soon).

Copies of the document will be available in hard copy format in the reception areas of both Antrim Civic Centre and Mossley Mill, Newtownabbey and can be made available on request in other formats and languages.

Comments should be submitted to Lynda Kennedy, PCSP Co-ordinator no later than 7 February 2022.
