Good Relations Week 2020

Council unveils its programme for Good Relations Week

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has unveiled its programme for Good Relations Week.

Taking place from 14 - 21 September 2020, the initiative is co-ordinated regionally by the Community Relations Council and supported by the Northern Ireland Executive’s, Together Building a United Community Strategy.

Due to measures in place in response to the COVID-19 pandemic Good Relations Week 2020 will be delivered entirely online using digital content, hosted on the Council website.

The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey Cllr Jim Montgomery said,

“Good Relations Week is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate our diversity and the ties that connect our communities. We want our towns and villages to be welcoming spaces for all where people feel respected and welcomed and I would urge people to get online and participate in the programme.”

This year’s theme is ‘Celebrating Our Journey, Embracing Our Future.’ celebrating the efforts of people and communities in tackling sectarianism and racism and promoting cultural diversity in Northern Ireland.

The initiative includes:

  • Grant Aid 2020 Showcase - demonstrating how Good Relations Grant Aid has been utilised across the Borough

  • Clotworthy House Showcase - demonstrating the history of Clotworthy House and current examples of its use.

  • Sentry Hill Showcase - demonstrating the history of Sentry Hill and current examples of its use.

  • Good Relations Diversity Colouring Book
