Blooming Great Gardens

Winners of the Best Kept Garden Competition announced

The much anticipated wait is over as the winners of the 2020 Best Kept Garden competition have been announced.

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has been committed to improving local towns and villages and create a greater sense of pride in the Borough. The Best Kept Gardens competition recognises those residents, groups, businesses or schools that cultivate beautiful gardens or flower beds and to encourage others to take pride in their place, whether that be their garden, business premises, school or local area.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Jim Montgomery said;

“This year has been one like no other and with people spending more time at home, there’s no doubt that many of those hours were spent working in the garden. It was fantastic to see that the number of entries had increased by 50% on last year. The quality of entries certainly made for a difficult task in selecting the winners. I was delighted to be involved in the competition and want to thank all those who put so much work into making our Borough a beautiful place to live, work and visit.”

The Mayor continued;

“Due to the ongoing pandemic, we were unable to hold a traditional awards ceremony, however I was delighted to be able to announce the winners via a virtual ceremony.”
