Council to Host Leisure Recruitment Events

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council are on a recruitment drive to attract new talent to work in their leisure centres.

Antrim Forum will host the first recruitment day on Thursday 6 October 2022 from 5pm – 9pm, followed by the Valley Leisure Centre, Newtownabbey on Saturday 15 October from 10am – 3pm.

The recruitment events are open to everyone, and specifically to those who are seeking a career in leisure as a Leisure Attendant, Fitness Consultant or a Receptionist. The job positions will be available across all five of the Council’s leisure centres with full-time, part-time and casual roles available.

The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Alderman Stephen Ross said,

“The recruitment open days are a great opportunity to find out first-hand if someone would enjoy a career in leisure. These are unique recruitment events, in that the recruitment process is faster, more efficient, and candidates will find out within a few days if they have been successful.

"We are targeting a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds, from 16 years old and up. Our leisure jobs offer flexible hours and this may appeal to someone whose circumstances have changed, or who would like to change their career path and find a job in leisure that may be best suited to their lifestyle.”

Applicants should register online prior to the recruitment day and be prepared on the day to have a short interview. Those applying for a leisure attendant role will also be required to participate in a pool test on the day following their interview.
