Over £1,000,000 Awarded to Community and Voluntary Groups

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council recently hosted an event to celebrate the achievement of local community and voluntary groups that successfully secured financial assistance under the Council’s Community Development Grant Aid Programme

Since April, a rigorous assessment of over 300 funding applications has taken place, culminating in the allocation of over £1,000,000 in financial assistance. This aid has channelled much needed resources to community and voluntary groups across the Borough, including The Bridge Association, Carnmoney Village Community Group and Home Start East Antrim.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Mark Cooper commented,

“This investment will help assist in empowering, engaging and sustaining a cohesive Community and Voluntary Sector within the Borough. The ultimate goal is to strengthen the community, build capacity and improve the overall quality of life for all residents.

We extend our deepest appreciation to all the applicants and wish them every success with their forthcoming projects. Their dedication to sourcing resources and grants demonstrates their unwavering commitment to effecting positive change.”

Kelly Taylor, Scheme Manager, Home Start East Antrim commented,

“This award of financial assistance will enable us to deliver bespoke programmes targeted at those most in need within our community, for this support we are extremely grateful”.

The latest Council Community Development and Community Festivals Grant Aid Programmes reopened on Monday 23 October and will close at 4pm on Monday 4 December 2023.
