Progress at £4.9m Workplace Hub Celebrated in Antrim

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey Councillor Mark Cooper BEM has welcomed a visit by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Area Lead Jenny Martin to the site of a new state-of-the-art workspace in the former Wellworths building on Antrim’s High Street.

Joined by Antrim Elected Members and Jennifer McWilliams of Antrim Enterprise Agency, the group were met onsite for a tour by the Council’s Deputy Director of Regeneration Steven Norris who explained that work on the Workplace Hub is now well underway ahead of an early 2024 launch.

The 16,000 sq. ft. High Street facility, which is part-financed by £1.2m funding from the UK Levelling Up Fund, will create a new flexible space to support start-ups, entrepreneurs and other business users.

Mayor Cllr. Cooper congratulated everyone involved in the project for the progress to date:

“This impressive transformation is part of regeneration plans to revitalise Antrim town centre as well as bring people into the heart of the town to enjoy all it has to offer. I’m delighted on how much progress has been made and would applaud all those who have been working hard to make it happen. The finished hub will be an asset to Antrim and to our Borough.”
