‘I AM MAURA’

Commedia of Errors present one-woman smash hit show ‘I AM MAURA’ at Theatre at The Mill, Newtownabbey this February

Belfast. 2005. Maura is 15 and trying to find a boyfriend. Only she's surrounded by girls and is starting to think she might actually prefer them. Asking questions in school means awkward blushes and detention. Her only guidance is Martine McCutcheon's 'Perfect Moment' and her best mate Ali.

Written by Clare McMahon and directed by Benjamin Gould, I Am Maura is a light-hearted and deft look at the life changing decisions we all face in our teenage years and how we're woefully ill-equipped to deal with them.

Following on from their sell-out show The Gap Year with the Lyric Theatre, Belfast's award-winning theatre company Commedia of Errors is back with their smash-hit coming of age play I Am Maura. A festival hit in last year’s Belfast Children’s festival, this one woman sees actor Calla Hughes play characters from age 15 to 96, so there’s sure to be someone everyone can relate to. Clare McMahon’s I Am Maura places the audience at the centre of this pivotal week in Maura’s life.

“This play has a little bit of everything, comedy, heart and awkward teenage blushes. Adults can revel in the nostalgia of harking back to their school days, and their teens will love its relatable characters and important message: be kind, be open and be your own person. All performed by Calla Hughes, an incredible up-and-coming talent, see her now before she’s stolen away by the West End!” – Director Benjamin Gould.

I Am Maura. Saturday 3 February, 7:45pm. Tickets from £12. For more information and to secure tickets visit: www.theatreatthemill.com
