Women’s Night Safety Charter

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has made a commitment to promote women’s night safety by signing up to the Women’s Night Safety Charter. The Charter is a commitment by organisations and businesses operating at night to support the campaign to end violence against women and girls. 


About the Charter

About the Charter
 

The Charter commitments are to:

  • Nominate a champion in the Council who will actively promote women’s night safety
  • Demonstrate to staff and customers that the Council takes women’s safety at night seriously
  • Remind customers and staff that our Borough is safe, but tell them what to do if they experience harassment when working, going out or travelling
  • Encourage reporting by victims and bystanders as part of the communications campaign
  • Train staff to ensure that all women who report are believed
  • Train staff to ensure that all reports are recorded and responded to
  • Design public spaces and work places to make them safer for women at night.
