Women’s Night Safety Charter

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has made a commitment to promote women’s night safety by signing up to the Women’s Night Safety Charter. The Charter is a commitment by organisations and businesses operating at night to support the campaign to end violence against women and girls.

About the Charter

The Charter commitments are to:

Nominate a champion in the Council who will actively promote women’s night safety
Demonstrate to staff and customers that the Council takes women’s safety at night seriously
Remind customers and staff that our Borough is safe, but tell them what to do if they experience harassment when working, going out or travelling
Encourage reporting by victims and bystanders as part of the communications campaign
Train staff to ensure that all women who report are believed
Train staff to ensure that all reports are recorded and responded to
Design public spaces and work places to make them safer for women at night.
