Winter Woollies

Now finishing its second year, the Winter Woollies campaign aims to keep people cosy over the winter months

Stay Warm, Share Warmth

Stay Warm, Share Warmth

As the temperatures drop and the cost of heating goes up, there are people in our Borough who will struggle to keep themselves warm.

As part of our Winter Woollies campaign, we called on residents to knit or crochet hats, scarfs or blankets on their own or with friends, class mates or other groups they are involved in.

Due to the generosity of residents, we received approximately 1200 items, each of which will go to someone in need whether it is a baby, an older person, or anyone in between.

Partner Community Groups

The donations, more than doubling last year’s contribution of 500 items, reflect a community united in the spirit of giving. The donated items were distributed to various community organisations who will circulate to those in need, including:

  • Homeless Connect
  • Ballymena SureStart
  • Community Advice Antrim and Newtownabbey
  • Radius Housing
  • BabyBasics Ballyclare
  • Kindercare
  • St. Vincent de Paul
  • Good Morning Newtownabbey
