Is your garden your pride and joy? Or perhaps you know someone who works round the clock to keep their garden in tip top shape? If so, why not enter our Best Kept Garden competition?

Big or small, exotic or traditional, the competition is open to all resident across the Borough and features a number of categories including Best Kept Garden, Best Kept School Grounds and Best Kept Community Planting.

This year the competition features a brand new category – Most Environmentally Friendly Gardening, which encourages participants to consider the positive impact their activities such as conserving water and using less plastic can have in their gardens.

Speaking at the competition launch, Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Paul Michael, said: “Gardening is a fun way to relax and enjoy some community spirit with friends, family and neighbours.

“From window boxes and plant pots to flower beds and displays, we want to see as many people as possible get involved and enter this competition.”

The closing date for entries is 31 July 2019 and winners will be announced in September.
