Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is delighted to be shortlisted in a number of categories in this year’s Association for Public Services Excellence Awards (APSE).
APSE works with over 300 councils throughout the UK and these awards recognise the very best in local frontline service. Following a rigorous round of judging, the council was announced as a finalist in the following categories:
  • Best Service Team of the year – Environmental Health, Trading Standards & Regulatory Service
  • Best Service Team of the year – Sports, Leisure & Cultural Service
  • Best Health & Wellbeing Initiative
  • Best Workforce Initiative – Employee Engagement
In addition, the Council is also under consideration for the APSE Overall Council of the Year 2019.
Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Alderman John Smyth commented, “These awards are about celebrating the hard work and achievements of frontline services and the local workforce delivering them. These services and local initiatives make a real difference to local people and local places and it’s fantastic that the work of our Council is being recognised.”
The winners will be announced at the APSE Annual Charity Awards Dinner in aid of Parkinson’s UK on Thursday 12 September 2019 in Newcastle.
