A Taste of Vietnamese comes to Antrim Castle Mall

Antrim Castle Mall is delighted to welcome a new Vietnamese-style café, Banh Boy to the centre with its promise of bringing a unique taste of Southeast Asia to Antrim.

Banh Boy Antrim will offer a Northern Irish spin on the traditional banh mi (type of baguette), using local suppliers to create a hearty dish filled with savoury and fresh flavours.

Brunch favourites, salad bowls, vegetarian and vegan options are also on the menu, along with Vietnamese coffee, which promises to become a firm favourite with customers.

Under the supervision of local restaurateur, Gerard McQuillan, the 28-seater café is the first food offering to open in the centre since the Covid-19 pandemic, and marks a step forward as shoppers return with confidence, helping to add a cosmopolitan dimension to Antrim town.

The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Billy Webb, congratulated the owners of Banh Boy saying how impressed he was by the range of options and flavours available, and praised the café for taking the plunge in challenging economic times.

The Mayor commented; “Banh Boy Antrim provides local customers and visitors with a different taste and sensory experience. To see new and different things in the Borough is very encouraging and I recommend that people come down and try out the different cuisine on offer here!”

Gerard McQuillan  said; “What makes Banh Boy Antrim unique is that we’re putting our own Asian spin on the sandwiches and visitors can expect to see local favourites on the menu in a totally new and creative way.”

Pamela Minford, Centre Manager at Castle Mall added; “Banh Boy Antrim is the first in what we hope will be a series of exciting announcements for Castle Mall and marks a new era of significant transformation for the centre. We’re pleased to be able to offer food and drink once again to our customers and wish to extend a warm welcome to Gerard and the team as they officially open their doors.”
