NHS, Social Care & Frontline Workers' Day July 5 2021

The Council will join in a nationwide day of celebration and thanks to our NHS, social care and frontline workers on Monday 5 July 2021 with a series of events planned throughout the day.
 
The day will start with a flag raising service at Mossley Mill and Antrim Civic Centre, where representatives of the Antrim Lieutenancy will join the Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey Councillor Billy Webb and Deputy Mayor, Councillor Stephen Ross as they raise a specially commissioned flag to mark the day.
 
This will be followed by a two minute silence and the Last Post at 11am to remember those NHS, social care and frontline workers who lost their lives. You are then invited to join A Nations Toast and to celebrate with a picnic or afternoon tea in your gardens, street, local park or open green space and show your gratitude to our NHS, social care and frontline workers. A national clap for our heroes is planned for 8pm and church bells will ring 73 times to mark each year of service of the NHS.
 
The date is very fitting being the 73rd anniversary of the National Health Service which brought free health care to everyone. This invaluable service has been treasured ever since but none more from March 2020 when we were faced with the Coronavirus pandemic. Our doctors, nurses, healthcare staff and many more frontline workers kept our shops open, our streets safe and our crucial services continued. This day of celebration is the perfect opportunity to say thank you.
