World Children’s Day – Bringing Joy to Families in Need

The Family Support Programme in Antrim and Newtownabbey is a partnership between the Council, Northern Health and Social Care Trust, Save the Children and Community Advice Antrim and Newtownabbey, offering support for families who are experiencing severe hardship.

Christmas can be a difficult and challenging time for families struggling financially, and this year Save the Children are supporting families in the Borough through providing children’s books, play packs and festive wrapping paper to ensure those struggling families can provide a gift-wrapped present for their children to open on Christmas morning.

Laura Feeney, from Save the Children said “Save the Children are delighted to be able to offer a range of children’s books provided by our long-standing partner Penguin Random House who are on a mission to donate 1 million books to children across the world.  Through the partnership approach in Antrim and Newtownabbey 200 children will receive the gift of a book and experience the joy of reading”.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Mark Cooper commented, “This Christmas, as we come together as a community, let us remember the importance of extending a helping hand to those in need, ensuring that every child experiences the joy of the season. Together, we are not just providing support; we are building a foundation of hope for a brighter future for our children and families."
