20 New Trees Marks 20 Years of Integrated Education at Round Tower Primary School

Round Tower Integrated Primary School is celebrating a significant milestone this year - 20 years of providing excellent integrated education to the Antrim community. To mark this achievement, the school planted 20 trees along with help from Deputy Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Rosie Kinnear.

Nearly 20 native trees species including Oak, Birch, Hazel, and Pine were planted in the school’s grounds. This initiative not only enhances the school environment but also aligns with the Council's ambitious One Million Tree target.

The Deputy Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Rosie Kinnear comments,

“Congratulations to Round Tower Integrated Primary School for reaching its 20th anniversary. I am delighted to support the school by planting trees that will be serve as a lasting legacy that will be beneficial to both the school community and the environment for years to come.”

The school was established in 1978 and took the step in 2003 to transition into an integrated school. In the past 20 years, Round Tower Integrated Primary School has bought together children from all backgrounds and fostered a shared community space in a welcoming and nurturing school environment.

Mr Hutchinson, Principal of Round Tower Integrated Primary School added,

“We are incredibly proud to be celebrating 20 years of Integration at Round Tower.”

“Planting these trees educates the children about the World Around Us and will provide a great space for children to engage in outdoor learning. It is also a symbolic gesture of our ongoing growth as a school and our commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion and an ethos of togetherness.”
